The Earl Grey was situated at the junction of Upper South Street and Uttoexeter Old Road. This pub was present by 1857 when the publican was Jonathan Brentnall. It has now been demolished.
In 1958 the landlady was Lucy Ellis.  She went on to run the Ram Inn in Bridge Street.  Her stepson ran the Rose & Crown at Brailsford and the Yew Tree at Ednaston
