The Chesterfield Arms was situated at 44 Nottingham Road.  This pub was present by 1857 when the publican was Jonathan Wheeldon.  The publican in 1935 was Richard Lomas.

This pub was mentioned in the court case involving the headmaster of Derby Grammar School in 1865. The landlady was an Emma Bannister who was a well known prostitute running what looks like a brothel from the premises.
