The British Lion was situated at 24 Siddals Road. 
 
From the Derby Mercury 20 March, 1878
Valuable Freehold Public-House,Shops, Dwelling -Houses and Workshops. To be sold at Auction By Messrs. J. and W. Heathcote, At the Bell Hotel, Derby, on Tuesday, March 26th, 1878, at Six for Seven o’clock, subject to conditions to be then produced:-
Lot 2.
A freehold public-house, known as the “British Lion”, Siddals-Road, Derby, in the occupation of Mr. Wm. Beattey, comprising vaults, tap-room, kitchen, cellar, 3 bed-rooms, together with yard, brewhouse, stable and outhouses, thereto belonging.
It would appear that in the “Derby Mercury” newspaper on 11 October, 1882, he sold the pub “British Lion, Siddals Road, William Beatty to Samuel Sims.”
