The Bird In Hand was situated at 21 Morledge.
The publican in 1841 was Richard Carrington. In the Derby Mercury of 19th May 1847 he is recorded as being committed to prison for 14 days or pay £1 7s for causing cruelty to a domestic cock fowl by causing it to fight with another presumably as landlord of the Bird in Hand.
