The Albion Inn was situated at 10 Albion Street.
This pub was present by 1871 when the publican was Joseph Gaskill. The publican in 1935 was Frank C McKenzie. A quote from the Derby Evening
Telegraph by Ron Howard 'The pub wasn't very big. There was a bar and a
sitting room, with a piano and we used to have a sing-song on Saturday and
Sunday nights'. |

In 1885 Mr Henry Dreher was the
Landlord. He was summoned for keeping his licensed premises open at 11.25 at
night on 30th December 1884. A Police constable named Atkins saw a woman
with a jug and cigar in hand. She asked him for a light. Then he watched her
go into the house and come out with a fresh drawn Beer. There was a fine of
40s and costs. There was another conviction for opening his premises on 31st
May 1885 which was a Sunday. This time he was fined £5 or a months
imprisonment. |
