The George & Dragon was situated on St NIcholas Street. This grade-II listed pub was present by 1830 and closed in 2013.
 
Listed building details:
Public house. Early C19. Stucco on rubble; bitumen-grouted slate roof with brick end stacks. Shallow-depth plan. 3 storeys; 4-window range. Original 16-pane hornless sashes to 1st floor left, otherwise horned copies. Doorway, left of centre, with incised panelled pilasters and moulded entablature; 6-panel door; mid/late C19 shop front, on the right, with similar pilasters and moulded entablature with dentils; C20 door and late C19 pair of horned sashes.
