The Old Thirteenth Cheshire Astley
Volunteer Rifleman Corps Inn was situated at 48 Astley Street. This pub
closed c2015. Starting life as a beerhouse, The New Inn, it became The
Thirteenth Mounted Cheshire Rifleman Inn and as such entered the Guinness
Book Of Records as the UK pub with the longest name. After losing the
accolade to another pub, the name was lengthened in order to reclaim it.
Stalybridge also had the pub with the shortest
name. |
|
Reopened in June 2019. |
