The New Market Tavern was situated at 4 Corporation Street. This pub closed in 1932 and has now been demolished.

My wife's great grandfather was the licensee of the Newmarket in 1912 when "It's a long way to Tipperary" was penned there. It was given its first public performance the following night at the Grand Theatre.
