Crewe Arms

The Crewe Arms was situated on Nantwich Road. This pub closed in 2020 and has since been used to house asylum seekers.

It is a fairly large hotel with a small hotel bar used almost exclusively by residents. It closed in 2020 for lockdown and then things got complicated. The whole building was an
investment vehicle, people had bought the leases of individual bedrooms and received income from them, whilst the freehold and shared services remained in the possession of another company. How this worked with government business support during lockdown must have been discussed by various lawyers. However, the MoD did a deal to use it for relocating Afghan forces during that crisis which kept it going but without the bar. It did eventually reopen, including the bar, and through 2024 received a number of generally favourable reviews on Tripadvisor but then closed down again at the end of the year.
