The Talbot Hotel was situated on Lower Bridge Street. This pub was later known as Clavertons.

My pals and I used to go there nearly every Saturday in the early 1970's. They served Tartan Bitter which (probably) had an OG of 3.2 or thereabouts - minging stuff but pre CAMRA days! I once turned up mid-week on my Triumph 650 in the days of the home internationals. A game was being played at Wrexham and amongst the visitors were Billy Bremner, Jack Carlton and Gary Sprake of Leeds United. The local hard lads used the rear of the pub and us wimps used to give them a wide berth.

Anthony Degazon 1967 My abiding memory was small Barrels of scrumpy on the actual bar and when a barrel was spiralled the liquid hit the ceiling as the scrumpy was so lively . The pub had a wooden floor in those days.
