Ryecroft Arms

The Ryecroft Arms was situated on Turves Road. This pub was formerly known as The Conway, after a nearby road name.  A former Hydes Brewery estate pub built around 1960, very popular in the 1960's and 1970's but closed February 2017 and now demolished to make way for housing.

The Conway pub was owned by Wilson's in the 1980s,I remember spending my best years in there drinking and socialising.in the early 80s it was managed by billy Fagin and his spouse bridey,it was fantastic when billy owned it,you walked in to a huge set back bar,on your left at the back were cannons pointed at the windows to give the Conway ship feel, and to your right, a games room with full size pool table, and opposite the main bar was a massive £1 for three plays massive video player juke box screen.always loafed with 80s music!!☺that was a fantastic pub till Hyde's bought it an ripped it out and recalled it rycroft arms, after that, the atmosphere of the old Conway was gone.its a massive shame because when it was the Conway pub it was packed out every weekend.
