The New Stag & Hounds was situated on Bottom Alley Bottom Alley (now Pond Approach - the incomers in the late 1950's/early 1960's didn't like Bottom Alley as a name for where their posh houses were to be, or Factory Street and School Lane for that matter).  The beerhouse was pulled down about  the mid 1950's to make way for Turners Place, a small shopping precinct.
