The Dinton Hermit was situated on Water Lane and
closed on Christmas Eve 2013. Dating from the 16th century, the pub was
named after John Bigg, who lived in a cave in the village. He was involved
in the execution of King Charles I on 30 January 1649 and was reputed to
have been the actual executioner. |

Reopened on 30th November 2019. |
