Giving its name to the railway bridge, the old Black Horse pub was on Woodside Road. This pub was on Amersham Common, but when the railway came to Amersham and the Station Hotel (later The Iron Horse, itself now closed) opened, the Black Horse's licence was transferred to the Station Hotel. The railway embankment goes very close to the front of the old pub.
