The Little Crown was situated at 15
Southampton Street. was demolished in 1969. My grandparents were tenants
from sometime in the 1950's - 60's. I stayed there a few times when a child.
It had an interesting history, having been quite rowdy at one time. My
grandmother used to board "theatricals" from the Palace Theatre in Reading.
I remember Nelson who kept a pony and cart in the stables at the back - he
was either a green grocer or a rag and bone man, I'm not sure which. |
