Fox Inn

The Fox was situated on Woodcote Road and is now used as an Indian restaurant called the Palm Tree.

The restaurant has now also closed and the site is being redeveloped.

The building has now been demolished with a new housing estate, Fox Heath Gardens, built on the site.
Nicola Babington (January 2025)

The Fox was one of 3 pubs north of Reading selling the delectable Gales beer from Horndean in Hampshire. There were no Gales pubs in Reading - just the aforementioned 3 north of Caversham. The Fox served a decent pint - either ordinary or special bitter or mild - but it was a little too far away for me to be a regular there. Instead, I used to drink at the Pack Saddle in Mapledurham, which was accessible by bus from Reading.

Rachel Davies 1968 I stayed there many years ago 1968 as my aunt Betty and uncle John owned it. I remember a woodland nearby where we would walk the dogs in between working hours.
