The Blue Lion was situated on Broad Lane. This pub closed in October 2014 and was demolished in 2018 to make way for flats.

In the 1960s I went to Ranelagh School and the Blue Lion was conveniently placed opposite the entrance to the school drive. Whilst in the 6th form a few of us would occasionally, during free periods, pop down to the Blue Lion, in school uniform, and have a drink. As long as we were quiet and discreet the landlord was OK with this. Different times. Also it used to have outside toilets which came in handy sometimes late at night.
