The Two Brewers was situated at 43 Dumfries
Street. This pub closed in 2005. |

I used this pub most lunchtimes and for
an after work pint most days around 1982/6. I could walk there from my
office. It was a great friendly old fashioned boozer. Run by a chap called
Fred Cushion. It was named after 2 ex Whitbread employees who set up a micro
brewery in an industrial unit in Bedfordshire. The pub obviously sold their
own beers which, if I remember correctly, were named on cricket ing themes.
I won't say it was spit and sawdust but it was next grade up. All were
welcome whether Suits or jeans and Fred was an excellent. "Mine host ". The
brewery bought another much larger pub and Fred moved there. |
