Three Horse Shoes

The Three Horse Shoes was situated on Marsh Road. This pub has now been demolished with a McDonalds built on the site.

n early 1970/1, I was running the Luton Folk Club with a friend. We had moved venues around several Luton pubs, and ended up at the Three Horseshoes in early 1971.
On the 31st March 1971, I was on the door when two young 'ladies' turned up, walked in and looked confused. I said to the first one, 'It's a folk club and its 10p to come in.' 'Fuck off, she said, 'I'm not paying 10p for a fucking folk club.' They turned and went into the other bar. 'Gobby cow,' I thought.
When the club has finished, my friend and I went into the other bar, had a drink with them and took them home. Three years later in 1974, I married the gobby cow.
We are still married now.
