The Black Bear was situated at 10 Hitchin Street, and burnt down following the council refusing plans to convert it to residential. In the 1980s it had the highest barrelage of all pubs in Biggleswade, but Greene King didn't like it - it was full of dirty nasty leather jacket wearing bikers! The premises dated from 1661 and had been empty for a number of years when they were destroyed by fire in 2006.
