The Wheatsheaf  was situated on Mount Pleasant, closing c2010.

I recall it being owned by the Martin family, I was best friends with the daughter and recall going to a party there in the late 50’s. I lost touch with my friend but later on the Wheatsheaf came back on my radar as my Aunt and Uncle – Ann and Bill Cox
took the pub over maybe in the late 60’s or early seventies and they were there for a good long time eventually retiring around 2005 – 2007 and they made it very popular. No fancy meals but a good old fashioned pub with Dart and Skittles etc and they also used to have bonfire nights, car boot sales and other events and raised a lot of money for the Guide Dogs for the Blind and other charities. They also had a lovely garden for families to use with swings and a slide, aviaries and also they had a field with other animals. It became quite the place to visit and people used to go from miles around on a summers day.
After Ann and Bill retired it had maybe one or two proprietors and was serving Thai food at one stage but it was never very successful after the Cox’s left. Eventually it was demolished around 2011 -2012 and new houses built on the site.
