Three Compasses


The Three Compasses was situated on Dunstable Street. The publican from 1827 to 1830 was John Farmer
Its 1827 valuation shows it as a freehold public house,  occupied by John Brightman, with a five stalled stable, open four horse stable, wood barn, a stable for five horses with a loft over; a dairy under the adjoining premises and a barn. A house and shop adjoining in the occupation of Gascoyne; a piece of land called 'Forty Acres' situated in the parish of Maulden about 1 1/2 miles from Ampthill is attached to this occupation; it contains about one acre and was awarded under the Enclosure as Cottage Right belonging to the White Hart, Maulden.
